Blue Ridge Baptist Church is one of the oldest churches in the Roanoke Vally. In 1802, a tract of land was deeded to the group of Trustees of Blue Ridge Meeting House. In 1821, Blue Ridge Baptist was constituted. The founder and first Pastor was Merryman Lunsford (1819-1859).
The original brick church was erected in 1854. Several remodeling jobs were done up to the year 1967. The present sanctuary and Sunday School building were built in 1972 and renovated in November 2001 and again in 2017.
Blue Ridge Baptist Church has one of the longest running Sunday School programs in the Roanoke Valley.
Pastor Tom Hurt grew up within Blue Ridge Baptist Church and has been the Pastor since 1992.
